CONTINUITY ARRANGEMENTS Updated Monday March 24th at 22.50

Current Operations

We were expecting the ministerial announcements this evening by the Prime Minister and the First Minister.  Our Operational Plan is now in full swing with the emphasis being placed upon keeping staff safe and keeping workflows moving.

Service Changes

In line with Government advice we are suspending all face to face contact situations except by e-media and our courier service has also now been suspended.  Provided the DX remains operational we ask that clients send files and other documents to us through the DX system for uplift.  If the DX system is suspended we have contingency operations in place providing for files to be delivered directly to the home addresses of our directors.  Until further notice all paper file instructions will be handled solely by David Hamilton and Stewart Mullan    If you have files that can be accessed electronically but where we do not have existing access rights, please consider whether you can add Hamilton Mullan as an online user to facilitate remote completion of accounts.

General Operations

In all other areas our service is operating normally.  Most of our law accountants and support staff are working from home using our remote access software.  We have a skeletal staff covering our Stirling office to ensure that all administrative requirements and enquiries are addressed.

Court Service and Taxation arrangements

SCTS have published some guidance on their website concerning both civil and criminal courts.   For the moment, it would appear that diets of assessment and diets of taxation will continue to take place, including the need for personal attendance and timeous submissions of documents.  We have sufficient resources to enable us to continue to service the requirements of SCTS going forward.  Currently, we are in a dialogue with the Auditor’s office on whether some diets can be conducted remotely or by written submission only.   For our own part we have sufficient capability to enable remote access taxation, but we understand that this may be problematic at the SCTS end of operations Any change in existing procedure will be communicated in future Bulletins.

Going Forward

It is clear that the current difficulty is going to be with us for a while.  The operational plan that we are adhering to was developed some time ago as part of our general resilience planning.  We are confident that we can sustain it for as long as it takes.  In the meantime, our focus is on maintaining our workload and our service levels with a view to securing the future cash-flows of our company and those of our clients.  It is our intention that regular bulletins will be issued to clients to keep them updated on all developments.
